COMMUNICATION: When I receive a transcript from you, I will ALWAYS e-mail you back and confirm that I have received it. I don't plan to ever miss an agreed-upon deadline between us, but if an issue should arise, I will communicate the problem with you as soon as I can. In the event that this should happen, I will refer you to another trusted proofreader.
REFERENCES: Currently, I use Morson's English Guide for Court Reporters, Margie Wakeman Wells' Bad Grammar, Good Punctuation, and Merriam-Webster Dictionary as references. Your preference is the most important reference I use. I have a preference form I can e-mail you. Or if you have one you would prefer to use, you can send that to me as well.
LIGHT RESEARCH: While proofreading your transcripts, I will also google any terms I am uncertain of. Some of these include brand names, medication names
(brand or generic), associations, acronyms, and more technical terms.

How does this work?I proofread by annotating PDF files. As long as you have the most updated version of Adobe Reader on your computer, you won't have any problems seeing my annotations/suggestions.
If you do not currently have a PDF converter on your computer, you can get a free one here. Using your preferences and my reference manuals (your choice of which one I use), I focus on spelling, capitalization, punctuation, incorrect words, missing and transposed words, and readability. I also check for format consistencies throughout the transcript. I use a red font above any errors so you can clearly see my annotations. I highlight sections of text that I feel you should double-check in yellow. Even better, once I am finished reading a job, I only return to you the pages that I have marked up. Upon request, I can return the full transcript to you instead. After you receive the annotated transcript from me, feel free to e-mail me with any feedback or concerns you may have. Currently, I only accept jobs in PDF format and I only proofread without the audio. |
Rates and Turnaround Times
Standard (48-72 hours): $.50 per page
Rush (24-47 hours): $.70 per page
Expedite (12-23 hours): $.85 per page
Immediate (Less than 12 hours): $.95 per page
Transcripts with a lot of technical jargon or are considered "messy" are an additional $.10 per page. These types of jobs require more attention and take more time.
Please let me know in advance if you have a larger job (more than 150 pages) coming that you would like to send me. I ask that you send these jobs in 50-page chunks. That way we both can be working on the same project at the same time and get it done quicker.
If you are a new client, I will send you an invoice immediately. After I receive payment for the first transcript, I will add you to my normal invoice schedule. I send out invoices the 1st and 15th of every month. Payment is due within 15 days after receiving the invoice. There is a 10% late fee upcharge for any invoices that are more than seven days late.
